HANNOVER, Germany (AP) - Bundesliga club Hannover has signed Austria goalkeeper Robert Almer on a one-year contract.

The 30-year-old Almer was a free agent after leaving Energie Cottbus, which was relegated from Germany’s second division last season. Hannover said Almer, who has made 15 appearances for Austria, will join the team on Monday.

The club’s first-choice goalkeeper, Ron-Robert Zieler, was a backup for Germany at the World Cup.
