ORANGE, Conn. (AP) - Orange police have arrested a mother accused of leaving her 3-year-old son in a car as she was grocery shopping.

Police charged Nathalie Stonier of Shelton on Thursday with risk of injury to a minor.

Police responded to a supermarket after receiving a 911 call about the child left in the car. Police say Stonier came out of the store when she saw police arrive.

Her husband, Rick Stonier, said she’s an “incredible mom” who made a mistake.

He says police and the media are on heightened alert after a Groton man was accused of leaving his 6-month old daughter in an unlocked car on Tuesday and a Georgia man who’s been accused of intentionally killing his toddler son by leaving the boy inside a hot SUV.

Stonier said his wife is “obviously regretful.”
