BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota’s Game and Fish Department is reminding outdoor recreationists who celebrate the Fourth of July at recreational areas to take their trash with them when they leave.

Agency officials say all garbage including spent fireworks should be put in trash cans if they’re available, or taken home for disposal.

Game and Fish says illegal dumping is costly to clean up and takes a significant toll on the environment. Not only does it spoil the beauty of the land, it destroys habitat, has the potential to pollute waters and can injure wildlife.

Littering violations can be reported to the Report All Poachers hotline at 800-472-2121.
