CENTER POINT, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a church in Clay was severely damaged by an early morning fire.

Center Point Fire Battalion Chief Lonnie West tells al.com (http://bit.ly/1se77BF ) that a call about the fire at Clayridge Baptist Church came in around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Authorities say no one was injured in the fire and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Pastor Ron Hudgens says the congregation of the church has met in the building for 35 years and will hold their Sunday worship services in the church parking lot. Hudgens says the church appears fine from the street but that it sustained serious heat damage.
