NEDROW, N.Y. (AP) - A 30-year-old pregnant upstate New York woman is recovering from an attack by a rabid fox.

Shannon Edwards of Nedrow just south of Syracuse tells The Post-Standard of Syracuse (http://bit.ly/1smPKPc ) the attack happened two weeks ago in the afternoon after she had returned home from a doctor’s appointment with her 3-year-old son.

Edwards says the fox was chasing her cat in circles outside her house, then looked at her and started biting her legs. Edwards, who is six months pregnant, kicked the fox and started running up her driveway, fell and the fox bit her right wrist. She says the fox bit her at least seven times before she and her son escaped inside.

An Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed the animal after a neighbor called 911.
