ELGIN, S.C. (AP) - Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is taking part in a fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics South Carolina.

On Wednesday, some of Lott’s deputies will be waiting tables at Stonefire American Grill in Elgin. The Tip-A-Cop event was organized by a Special Olympics athlete and kicks off at 5:30 p.m.

All tips received by deputies from then until 8:30 p.m. will go toward supporting year-round sports training and competition for the more than 22,000 Special Olympics athletes in South Carolina.
