NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A federal judge says he is “gravely concerned” about the lack of progress on complying with mental health provisions in a reform plan for New Orleans’ jail.

U.S. District Judge Lance Africk on Monday rescheduled a planned June 25 hearing on the jail overhaul effort. The hearing was re-set for July 14.

An open-court status conference, instead of full hearing, is now set for June 25.

Africk’s order is the latest development as the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office works to comply with a reform plan agreed to after inmate advocates and the U.S. Justice Department filed suit over jail conditions.
