GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - An event that celebrates arts, crafts, engineering and technology is coming to Grand Rapids.

The first Grand Rapids Mini Maker Faire is scheduled for Aug. 30-31 at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.

The event is being organized by the GR Makers, The Geek Group, Grand Rapids Community College, Genesis Inc. and the Grand Rapids Public Museum.

The flagship Maker Faire event takes place in California. The Detroit area also hosts a Maker Faire each year. Maker Faire Detroit 2014 is July 26-27 at The Henry Ford, the Dearborn attraction that includes Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.
