Obama: I’m a ‘good, fun dad’

- The Washington Times - Thursday, June 12, 2014

President Obama stepped away from the more serious matters of the world — Iraq's escalating conflict and the blooming border problem about the fate of thousands of illegal minor-aged crossers — for a televised interview Thursday to discuss parenting, particularly his own fathering talents.

"I think they would say that I am a good, fun dad who teeters on the edge of being embarrassing sometimes," Mr. Obama said during an NBC "Today" appearance in which he was asked to explain how his daughters would describe him.

Mr. Obama's daughters, Malia and Sasha, are now 15 and 13, respectively.

Mr. Obama also took the opportunity to wax proud about his family, saying he and first lady Michelle Obama are "really proud" of their girls, especially since they don't have to "nag them too much about stuff."

"They've got their acts together," he said. "They've got their heads on straight. They're strong, confident young ladies. … The one thing the girls know about me is I love them to death."
