IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) - A southeast Idaho teenager is receiving treatment after being bitten by a bat that tested positive for rabies.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare tells KIFI-TV (http://bit.ly/1oX2ig6) that the 16-year-old girl is expected to recover.

Authorities say the girl found the bat at Civitan Park in Idaho Falls last week.

She put the bat in a hat and took it home where she attempted to feed it pineapple.

But the bat bit her on her index finger.

Deputy State Epidemiologist Leslie Tengelsen says bats and other wild animals should be avoided, especially if they appear sick or are acting aggressively or abnormally.
