Israel’s prime minister confirmed Saturday night that an organization with ties to al Qaeda kidnapped three teenagers in in the West Bank, one of whom is an American.

“Our children were kidnapped by a terror group, [there is] no doubt about that,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday, the Associated Press reported.

The extremist group Dawlat al-Islam distributed pamphlets in the West Bank city of Hebron claiming their involvement in the feared abductions, Israeli news organization, Haaretz reported Friday.

The group has significant ties to ISIS, the Sunni militant organization behind the recent uprisings in Iraq.

“It appears this event slipped under our radar, but we will not rest until we free the youths and put our hands on the terrorists who are responsible for this operation,” Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said Saturday, the Associated Press reported.

“As long as we don’t know otherwise, our working assumption is that they are alive,” he added.
