WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - A group of veterans in Waterloo have boarded an Honor Flight to visit military memorials in Washington, D.C.

The veterans and others departed Tuesday morning and are expected to return in the evening. The departure marks the 10th Honor Flight to leave from Waterloo.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (http://bit.ly/U6WGEx ) severe thunderstorms rolled across the state Monday night and put Tuesday’s flight in jeopardy. But dozens of veterans boarded the flight several hours later.

Bill Wolfgram, who is accompanying his father, says the trip allows veterans to experience the memorials together.
