The crux of the mounting problems we Americans face today stems from the contempt leftists have for our Constitution (“Sacrificing constitutional duty to political party,” Web, May 30). The Democratic Party’s subversion of our founding document has allowed the president to usurp power from the American people. One scandal after another has been swept under the rug by the ruling party: Fast and Furious, the attack on our consulate in Benghazi, the IRS’ targeting of conservative groups, and Obamacare and the enrollment disaster. The list goes on. Many of these unlawful acts resulted in the deaths of Americans and were exacerbated by the lies and cover-ups of the Obama administration.

If we are serious about getting our country back on the track of individual freedom, resuming our status as an exceptional nation and returning to a system of good governance represented by “we the people,” conservatives must do everything within their power to retake the Senate this November and keep the House of Representatives in the majority. This is the only recourse to right our ship and put an end to corruption and the president’s flagrant abuse of his office to advance his socialist agenda.

Low-information voters have no idea of the concept of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness without government interference, nor of our Founding Fathers or the Constitution. It is imperative that we teach the Constitution in public schools at every level for an informed electorate. “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6)
