GENEVA (AP) - Organizers of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar denied fresh allegations of wrongdoing after a British newspaper report questioned the integrity of choosing the emirate as tournament host.

The Sunday Times said a “senior FIFA insider” had provided “hundreds of millions of emails, accounts and other documents” detailing payments totaling $5 million that Qatari official Mohamed bin Hammam allegedly gave soccer officials to build support for the bid.

SAO PAULO (AP) - A smaller-than-capacity crowd and a few setbacks marked the final test event at the unfinished stadium set to host the World Cup opener in less than two weeks.

Only 37,000 people attended Sunday’s Brazilian league match at the Itaquerao in Sao Paulo, which won’t hold a full crowd until the opening game between Brazil and Croatia on June 12.

There were no major problems inside or outside the stadium, but some fans still complained of difficulties accessing the venue because of heavy traffic and lack of adequate instructions by local authorities.

Germany had to settle for a 2-2 tie with Cameroon on Sunday in its last match before coach Joachim Loew picks his final squad for the World Cup in Brazil.

In Moenchengladbach, Germany, Samuel Eto’o put Cameroon ahead in the 62nd minute, before Thomas Mueller and Andre Schuerrle gave Germany the lead. But Maxim Choupo-Moting scored the tying goal in the 78th.

In other games, it was: Paraguay 1, France 1; Belgium 2, Sweden 0; and Israel 4, Honduras 2.

LUTON, England (AP) - England almost had a 24-man squad departing for the World Cup on Sunday.

As the country’s soccer team prepared to board a flight to Miami for two pre-World Cup friendlies ahead of the tournament in Brazil, a familiar - if non-sporting - face mingled among the 23 players.

It was British actor Simon Brodkin, a BBC comedy star, who wore an identical gray suit to the players and also brandished a passport.

Captain Steven Gerrard appeared to spot Brodkin first, and members of security and local police then intervened.
