ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Actor Jude Law is adding to his knowledge of Thomas Wolfe by visiting the places where the author lived and worked in Asheville.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported (http://avlne.ws/1vYDeaP ) that Law visited Asheville earlier this week to prepare for his role in “Genius,” a movie about the relationship between Wolfe and his publisher Max Perkins, played by Colin Firth.

Tom Muir is historic site manager of the Thomas Wolfe Memorial State Historic Site. He says he took law on Wolfe’s newspaper route and walked with him on the streets that took Wolfe to church and prep school.

They also ate at the former location of a downtown saloon that appeared in Wolfe’s 1929 novel, “Look Homeward, Angel.”

Wolfe was born Oct. 3, 1900, at a house in Asheville.
