PLEASANTVILLE, N.J. (AP) - Pleasantville residents are remembering former mayor and police chief Ralph Peterson.

The 81-year-old’s funeral will take place Monday at Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Relatives and friends turned out for a procession on Sunday as the hearse carrying Peterson’s coffin drove by City Hall.

The city’s first black mayor and police chief served for 50 years and died on June 12.
