JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - A state Democratic party officer has made an ethics complaint against Gov. Sean Parnell, alleging political use of state resources.

Parnell’s office last week responded to an opinion piece by independent lieutenant governor candidate Craig Fleener, questioning Parnell’s whereabouts during a recent National Congress of American Indians conference. Parnell’s campaign responded, too.

Lynda Zaugg, in her complaint, said the response from Parnell’s official office is an ethics violation. Fleener’s running mate, Bill Walker, alleged the same in a press release.

Parnell spokeswoman Sharon Leighow says there was no ethics violation, pointing to a conference invitation sent to the governor’s office requesting that he give a welcome address.

Parnell’s office last week said Parnell had regretted the invitation about a month earlier to attend the 60th anniversary of his wife’s parents.
