NEW ORLEANS (AP) - UNO men’s basketball coach Mark Slessinger has agreed to a six-year contract extension that will pay him $114,000 in base salary, pending approval Friday by the University of Louisiana Board of Supervisors.

Slessinger took over the program in 2011 at a time of transition as the university considered dropping out of Division I athletics. In his three seasons as Privateers coach, he is 36-48.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/1jjP8o4 ) the new deal - if approved - would last through June 30, 2020.

The contract includes several bonuses including for winning the Southland Conference title and for claiming the conference tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Slessinger came to UNO from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, where he was an assistant for 11 years under Demons coach Mike McConathy.
