NEW ORLEANS (AP) - With Friday being National HIV Testing Day, there are more opportunities than usual to obtain a free test in the greater New Orleans area - and with good reason.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/1mzS5Wn ) the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last year ranked Baton Rouge and New Orleans second and third in the nation in the number of new HIV infections.
Walgreens is offering free screenings at several locations Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Also look for free testing during Essence Festival weekend. There will be a mobile unit outside Walgreens at 900 Canal St. on July 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and at the Morial Convention Center July 4-6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
