ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Organizers of the 1,000-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race say dozens of mushers are expected to be entered in the 2015 race on Saturday, the opening day of registration.

Organizers say between 45 and 50 mushers are expected at the opening. Registration is scheduled to be held between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at Iditarod Trail Committee headquarters in Wasilla.

The last day to sign up for the race is Dec. 1.
