Protesters with the Westboro Baptist Church showed up at a Brad Paisley concert in Bonner Springs, Kansas, on Sunday and got to be part of an ironic selfie that the country music star posted online.

Mr. Paisley posted a 16-second video Sunday to his Instagram account that showed him get out of a vehicle, walk up to several women holding signs, specifically “God Hates Drunks,” and snap a wide-eyed photo of himself.

He also tweeted a photo that received 5,500 retweets, with the comment: “Westboro Baptist Selfie!! Or west-Burro [expletive] selfie. Hopefully they can hear the show out here. We’ll play loud.”

A Facebook post of the photo garnered nearly 240,000 likes.

This isn’t the first time a country music star has confronted the Westboro provocateurs, who are notorious for picketing the funerals of fallen soldiers.

In September, Vince Gill found himself face-to-face with the protesters in Kansas City, Mo., who had an issue with his divorce.

“[Jesus] said a lot of stuff about forgiveness, about grace … you guys don’t have any of it,” he told the sign-holders.
