Obama’s foreign policy has ‘erectile dysfunction’ problems: Chinese general

- The Washington Times - Tuesday, June 3, 2014

A Chinese general isn't impressed with U.S. foreign policy under President Obama, describing what he sees as foreign policy "erectile dysfunction" at a recent national security conference.

Maj. Gen. Zhu Chenghu, a professor at the National Defense University made the comments to a Chinese-language Phoenix TV station while in Singapore, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

Gen. Zhu said that the U.S. increasingly must rely on its allies "in order to reach its goal of containing China's development," referencing the recent events in Ukraine to highlight waning U.S. influence around the globe.

"We can see from the situation in Ukraine this kind of ED [extended deployment] … has become the male type of ED problem — erectile dysfunction," he said, according to the Journal.

The Journal also reported that in 2005, Gen. Zhu said China may have no choice but to use nuclear weapons in a dispute over Taiwan.
