SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say two firefighters have been injured battling a brush fire that has burned 125 acres in extreme heat and brought a handful of evacuations in San Jose.

Fire Capt. Cleo Doss says the firefighters were taken to the hospital for heat-related issues while fighting the blaze that broke out on a golf course Monday afternoon near U.S. 101 and Highway 85.

Firefighters were able to save several upscale homes that were briefly under threat.

Doss says about 10 people who live in South San Jose were evacuated as a precaution. They were allowed to return a few hours later. Workers at a nearby IBM research center also left the area.

About 100 firefighters with help from a helicopter and two air tankers temperatures took on the blaze as it temperatures reached 100 degrees. It was 75 percent contained.
