CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A July sentencing is set for a former Shinnston police officer who pleaded guilty to drug charges.

Media outlets report that 40-year-old Charles Roscoe Henning III of Salem entered his plea Wednesday in Harrison County Circuit Court. He pleaded guilty to four counts of obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresentation by fraud, forgery, deception, or subterfuge.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department says Henning confiscated hydrocodone from several people while working as a Shinnston officer. He then removed pills before putting the bottles in the department’s evidence locker.

Henning was arrested in March 2013. His sentencing is set for July 21.
