NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The editor of a monthly publication that reprints news articles dating back up to 200 years is giving a workshop about how he puts The Nashville Retrospect together.

Allen Forkum has been publishing the newspaper since 2009. It features local history using original news reports along with essays from local historians and remembrances from longtime residents.

Forkum, who has been in the publishing business since 1988, became interested in local history while researching his 100-year-old home in a neighborhood near Belmont University in Nashville.

The free June 21 workshop is hosted by the Tennessee State Library and Archives, which has also been a source for Forkum’s research.

The State Library and Archives is located next to the state Capitol in Nashville.
