MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The president of Gun Owners of Vermont says a weekend rally at the Statehouse was a response to proposed changes passed in Burlington last week allowing police to seize the weapons of people suspected of domestic abuse, banning guns in establishments with a liquor license, and requiring gun owners to lock up their guns at home.

WCAX-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1oEPCY6) Ed Cutler says Vermonters are crucified because of a lifestyle or because of a hobby. Although voters in Burlington supported the measures, those at the rally said they are a direct infringement on second amendment rights.

Vermont law requires that the proposed charter changes be approved by the Legislature.
