WEST HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut officials say three people have died in an early morning fire at a condominium complex.

Firefighters responded to the Mallard Brook Crossing complex in West Haven shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday. Officials say a woman died at the scene and two other people died at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Authorities haven’t released the victims’ names.

Center Fire District Chief Jim O’Brien says firefighters quickly put out the fire, but there was heavy smoke throughout the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Officials with the state fire marshal’s office are helping local officials with the probe.

It was the second fatal fire in Connecticut in two days. A 47-year-old woman and her 19-year-old disabled daughter died in a house fire in Fairfield on Monday.
