RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Tayler Dodson had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Spotswood defeated Broadway 56-49 on Thursday in the Virginia High School League’s girls Group 3A state title game at the Siegel Center.

Elizabeth Dofflemeyer scored 19 points to lead Spotswood (27-1), which claimed its second straight state championship.

Dodson left the game with an ankle injury early in the fourth quarter and had the ankle taped. She returned, still limping, with 3:44 to play and scored the basket that put Spotswood ahead to stay, 41-39.

McKenzie Jenkins added 13 for Spotswood, and Brianna Zook led Broadway (21-6) with 17 points.

The teams met five times this season, with Spotswood winning all five games.
