NEW YORK (AP) - Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano says it appears all those missing after the East Harlem explosion have been accounted for. But it’s still being treated as a rescue scene, just in case.

Eight people have been declared dead from Wednesday’s explosion.

Cassano said Friday that about 60 to 70 percent of the debris has been removed from the site.

He says the removal of a rear wall was accomplished Friday. That will allow responders to remove debris more quickly. They hope to get to the basement around midday Saturday.

Debris is being examined on the sidewalk. Then it’s taken to Randalls Island and saved for a forensic exam.
