NAME: Steven Grossman

AGE: 68; Born Feb. 17, 1946

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, 1967; MBA from Harvard Business School, 1969.

CAREER: Entered his family’s business, Massachusetts Envelope Co. (later Grossman Marketing Group), in 1969; worked in security sales for Goldman Sachs, 1972-75; returned to Massachusetts Envelope in 1975 and was the firm’s chief executive until January 2011; chairman of Massachusetts Democratic Party, 1991-92; chairman of Democratic National Committee, 1997-99; president and chairman of American Israel Public Affairs Committee, 1997-99; chairman of Brandeis University board of trustees, 1999-2001; Massachusetts treasurer and receiver-general, 2010-present.

FAMILY: Resides in Newton with his wife, Dr. Barbara Wallace Grossman, a professor at Tufts University. The couple has three children.
