NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - New Haven police are searching for the driver of a van that struck an 8-year-old girl in a hit-and-run accident.

Police say the girl is in stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital and is expected to recover after being struck Tuesday morning at the corner of Ferry and Pine Streets. Her name hasn’t been released.

Officers are searching for a white van with double rear doors with windows and suspected damage to the front passenger side or headlight. Authorities say there’s no description yet of the driver.

Police say a school bus driver saw the accident. The bus wasn’t involved.
