HOA demands Florida woman remove breast cancer ribbon inside home: report

- The Washington Times - Tuesday, March 18, 2014

A South Florida woman is standing her ground after a homeowners association demanded she remove a breast cancer awareness poster from inside her home.

"Oh I'm very angry. ... These people are being outrageously unkind," Linda Karp, who beat breast cancer 16 years ago, told Fox 4.

Miss Karp said she received a letter Thursday night from the association at Regent's Park in Naples demanding she take her down the pink ribbon from her wall.

"It's on the inside of my entry-way," she told the station.

Linda Karp said the pink ribbon is a symbol of courage and survival against breast cancer.

"I'm not offending anyone. My neighbors are all supportive of breast cancer. I don't know why they're not," she said.

An HOA representative declined to comment but provided Fox 4 with a copy of the association's policy. The station couldn't find anything specifically stating that signs inside the home were not allowed.

Miss Karp told the station that she's standing firm in her continuing fight.

"I want them to leave me alone. It's a pink ribbon. ... I'm not removing it," she said.
