MIAMI (AP) - The publisher of The Miami Herald is leaving the newspaper to become president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of South Florida.

The Herald (http://hrld.us/1cQHbZE ) announced the resignation of 51-year-old David Landsberg on Monday.

Landsberg says he feels better about the future of the Miami Herald Media Company than he has at any point over the last 7 ½ years.

Landsberg began his career at The Herald 30 years ago when he was hired as an accountant fresh out of the University of Florida. He planned to stay a few years, but spent his entire newspaper career there. He occupied every key financial role before being named president and publisher in 2006.

Most recently he oversaw the newspaper’s move from downtown Miami to its new headquarters in Doral.
