The Republican Governors Association is getting in on the March Madness bracket hubbub by launching its own "Blue State Madness" challenge, an online contest where participants "can learn about the destructive policies and failed leadership" of Democratic governors and crown an eventual "winner."
The Twitter handle for the effort, complete with a bracket of 32 Democratic governors and candidates, is @BSMadness.
RGA spokeswoman Gail Gitcho said the effort "is designed to illustrate the deep divide between these struggling blue states and successful red states flourishing under Republican governors."
Among those on the list is Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, who squares off with Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley in the opening round.
Mr. Quinn will face multimillionaire Bruce Rauner, a businessman who won the Republican primary on Tuesday in a race shaping up to be a hotly contested campaign in the fall.
