Police surrounded a luxury hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan, Thursday after gunfire came from inside.

Police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai told Agence France-Presse that the surrounding area was blocked off and that authorities were moving in.

“We can confirm gunshots at the Serena hotel. Police have surrounded the area, but we have no more confirmed details,” he told the wire service.

The hotel shooting came hours after the Taliban ambushed a police station in Jalalabad, killing 10 officers.
