RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Sioux Falls Washington’s Brett Stanley had 26 points as the Warriors beat Pierre 63-50 in the first round of the South Dakota Class AA boys basketball tournament on Thursday.

The Warriors (14-11) shot 51 percent from the field, while Stanley was 12-for-19. Deng Geu had 12 points and Austin Heins led Washington with nine rebounds.

Pierre (19-5) struggled from the field, shooting just 32 percent. The Governors trailed 33-22 at the break and never made a run after that.

Erin Severyn had four 3-pointers and 16 points for Pierre and Brevin Kaiser added 12 points.
