A search-and-rescue mission kicked off Thursday morning at first light for the four members of a Spain Air Force helicopter crew who went missing after a crash into the sea off the Canary Islands.

The craft is part of the air force’s marine rescue service, The Associated Press reported.

It crashed into the waters late Wednesday evening. One who was aboard was immediately rescued, but searchers were forced to wait until Thursday’s light until resuming their hunt for the others who were on board.

The Canary Island’s emergency services agency said members of the army, coast guard and the Spanish Red Cross unit are involved in the search, AP reported.
