COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) - Vicente Sanchez and Deshorn Brown scored on penalty kicks two minutes apart in the second half to lead the Colorado Rapids to a 2-0 win over the Portland Timbers on Saturday.

Sanchez scored his second penalty kick in as many games in the 73rd minute and Brown got his in the 75th for Colorado (1-0-1).

Portland (0-1-2) has never beaten the Rapids in Colorado, going 0-3-1 in its road games at Colorado.

Portland goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts earned a red card when he made contact with Brown while trying to contest him for the ball.

Ricketts left the game with a leg injury and was replaced by Andrew Weber. Sanchez faked Weber into the left post before punching the ball into the center of the net.

Weber hauled down Sanchez moments later. Brown’s penalty kick was stopped by Weber, but Brown converted on the rebound.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) - Fabian Castillo, Je-Vaughn Watson and Michel scored in a 15-minute span of the second half to keep FC Dallas unbeaten.

Dallas (2-0-1) sits atop the Western Conference with an MLS-best seven points.

Castillo opened the scoring in the 71st minute off a Mauro Diaz set piece, and Watson outran defender Tony Lochhead on a long ball and then juked goalkeeper Ian Kennedy for the eventual game-winner in the 78th minute.

Chivas forward Erick Torres grabbed his third goal of the season in the 81st minute to put the pressure back on the hosts, but Michel, a second-half substitute, slotted in a low, left-footed free kick in the 86th and Chivas (1-1-1) lost for the first time this season.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) - Dom Dwyer scored on a penalty kick in the 57th minute, lifting Sporting Kansas City over San Jose.

Dwyer’s goal was the first by a forward in 564 minutes for Sporting (1-1-1), a streak dating to last year’s Eastern Conference semifinals.

San Jose (0-1-1) managed just one shot on goal and Kansas City keeper Eric Kronberg recorded his first shutout of the year.
