PHOENIX (AP) - Federal authorities say a convicted sex offender who was indicted on drug trafficking in Phoenix has been found in Mexico.

The U.S. Marshals Service says Mexican authorities arrested Wilfredo Martinez on Friday in the town of Agua Prieta.

Authorities say a grand jury indicted Martinez in October 2012 for possession of marijuana for sale.

They say he was found with dozens of pounds of marijuana and other paraphernalia.

Investigators say Martinez fled the U.S. after posting bond.

They say a subsequent search of his home turned up evidence that led to charging him with failure to register as a sex offender.

Deputy U.S. Marshals say they alerted Mexican authorities that Martinez might be hiding in Agua Prieta with another fugitive.

Authorities say both are now in Cochise County jail.
