ALPENA, Mich. (AP) - Alpena Community College is planning a $5 million addition to the World Center for Concrete Technology that focuses on education in electrical power.

The Alpena News reports (http://bit.ly/1doXJIU ) the Electrical Power Technology Center will be a more than 21,000-square-foot expansion housing classrooms, technical labs, a computer lab, faculty offices, an indoor high lab for power pole training and storage space.

Groundbreaking for the Electrical Power Technology Center will take place in early April. It’s expected to be in use around the beginning of 2015.

The state of Michigan granted a $2.5 million match for the center.


A $1 million bequest for the project was made from the estate of Alpena businessman Ferris H. Werth, who will be the building’s namesake.
