NEW YORK (AP) - ABC News says it has hired New York City’s former police commissioner as a consultant to discuss national security, domestic and foreign intelligence matters.

ABC News President Ben Sherwood announced Raymond Kelly’s appointment in a statement issued Friday.

Kelly served three terms as commissioner of the nation’s largest police force under former Mayor Michael Bloomberg. He also served under David Dinkins.

The city’s longest-serving police commissioner is credited with achieving record crime reductions and devoting vast resources to counterterrorism efforts.

The former Marine is now an executive at a global commercial real estate brokerage.

Sherwood says Kelly will contribute across all ABC News platforms.
