CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Gas prices increased by a penny over the past week in West Virginia.

AAA East Central says the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in the state was about $3.55. That’s down about 27 cents per gallon compared with the same week a year ago.

This week’s prices range from $3.38 a gallon in Parkersburg to $3.62 in Wheeling.

Nationally, gas prices average $3.46 per gallon, about 3 cents more than the previous week.
