LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) - Chimpanzee research pioneer Jane Goodall is making an appearance at Washington and Lee University.

Goodall is scheduled to speak in Lee Chapel on the Lexington campus Thursday night. The title of her speech is “Sowing the Seeds of Hope.” It will be live-streamed on the university’s website. A book signing will follow.

Goodall is the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and in 2002 was named a United Nations Messenger of Peace.

In 1960, Goodall began her landmark study of chimpanzees in what is now Tanzania. Her work became the foundation of primatological research.
