GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Linton-HMB’s Andrew Small outscored all of the Cavalier Tornadoes in the fourth quarter to lead the Lions to a 53-51 win Thursday in the first round of the North Dakota Class B boys basketball tournament.
Small had 21 points, 15 in the first half and six in the fourth quarter for the Lions (21-4). He was scoreless in the third quarter while Cavalier pulled out to a 47-41 lead. But the Tornadoes (23-2) scored just four points in the fourth quarter.
Cavalier missed a 3-pointer and put-back as time ran out.
Ryan Schneider and Johnathon Purintun had 13 points apiece for Linton-HMB.
Brock Robbins led Cavalier with 17 points, Deane Bjornson added 12 and Ryan Chrest 10. Chrest had three of the Tornadoes four blocked shots in the third quarter when they took a six-point. The game was tied at 35 at the half.
