Billionaire backer: Rick Santorum ‘needs to be heard’ in 2016

- The Washington Times - Friday, March 7, 2014

If Rick Santorum takes another stab at a the GOP presidential nomination, the former Pennsylvania Senator will have a powerful, deep-pocketed, ally in his corner.

Foster Friess, the billionaire who  backed Mr. Santorum's dark-horse run in 2012, said Friday that he will back Mr. Santorum in the 2016 election.

"He absolutely would be my guy," Mr. Friess said at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference. "He may be ... a long shot like he was last time, but if you think about it his voice needs to be heard because our culture precedes our politics. If we don't change our culture, the politics is going to migrate more and more to statism."

Mr. Friess will introduce Mr. Santorum to the crowd at the 41st annual CPAC here at the Gaylord National Hotel.

"What people love about Santorum is he is who is he. He speaks his words. He loves God. He loves his country and he loves gays," Mr. Friess said.
