LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Sydney Silhacek scored eight of her 17 points in the fourth quarter, including four free throws in the last 37 seconds, and defending champion Pierce used a 9-0 run at the start of the fourth quarter to take the lead for good and beat previously unbeaten Minden 69-60 in the Class C1 girls basketball final Saturday.

Rachelle Tucker led the Bluejays (23-4) with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Jacy Bretschneider added 15 points and Shelby Bretschneider had 10 for Pierce.

Brooke Kissinger made seven 3-pointers while scoring a game-high 28 points for the Whippets (27-1). Taylor Kissinger and Jamie Kissinger added 11 points apiece, and Rebecca Stewart grabbed 11 rebounds.

Pierce held Minden to 29-percent shooting.

Tucker made two free throws and a jump shot early in the fourth quarter to give Pierce a 53-50 lead. Jenna Denney’s 3-pointer pulled the Whippets to 62-58 with 2:03 left.
