YORK, S.C. (AP) - York officials say the State Law Enforcement Division has completed an investigation of the city’s police chief.

SLED has been investigating Police Chief Andy Robinson’s use of force during an arrest last month.

The Herald of Rock Hill reported (http://bit.ly/1rIsrxy) that City Manager Charlie Helms sent city council an email Tuesday saying SLED has finished the investigation. Helms did not detail SLED’s findings.

SLED spokesman Thom Berry said Wednesday the case will remain open until the local prosecutor decides whether to file charges. Prosecutor Kevin Brackett says he’s waiting for the case file.

The investigation focused on whether Robinson stepped on a handcuffed suspect lying on the ground.

Robinson is still on duty.
