LODI - A man was charged Saturday with stabbing his estranged wife to death, then fleeing with their two young sons to South Carolina, where he was captured and the boys were found safe, authorities said. Police who arrived at 39-year-old Tracy Jordan’s home in Lodi to conduct a welfare check on her Friday night found her dead of multiple stab wounds, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s office said. Her worried mother had called police after she hadn’t been able to get a hold of her and no one answered a knock at the door, a family friend said. SENT: 385 words, photos.

NEW JERSEY MAYORAL ELECTIONS

TRENTON - New Jersey’s biggest city and capital city are set to elect mayors this week to replace caretakers who stepped in after the previously elected mayors left office. The races in Newark and Trenton are technically nonpartisan but are certainly contentious. Both cities are overwhelmingly Democratic. In Newark, Ras Baraka and Shavar Jeffries are running to fill the seat previously held by U.S. Sen. Cory Booker as the state government threatens to take over city finances.
