MARINE CORPS AIR STATION NEW RIVER, N.C. (AP) - About 160 Marines and Navy personnel in North Carolina are heading overseas to support military operations in southwest Asia.

The Daily News of Jacksonville reported (http://bit.ly/1olr2PW) that a Marine light attack helicopter squadron and an aviation logistics squadron deployed late last week from Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point.

The newspaper reported that the unit is scheduled to be the last one to deploy as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Helicopter squadron 467 is to provide offensive air support and other services for a Marine task force in the region.

The unit is to return to North Carolina in the winter.
