TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The Border Patrol says its agents recently rescued several immigrants in distress in the southern Arizona desert and the agency is warning of the perils of crossing the desert to illegally enter the United States.

According to the Border Patrol, agents responding to a call about a person lying alongside State Route 85 near Ajo (AH’-hoh) on Monday found two people found to be suffering from dehydration and other heat-related ailments. They were taken to hospitals for treatment.

Agents on Saturday located a woman near Naco (NAH’-koh) after she ran out of water and called Mexican authorities to ask for help. She didn’t need medical attention.

The Border Patrol says Tucson Sector agents rescued 122 people in the past seven months.
